Darren Hayes Does ELO

Former Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes has recorded a cover of Electric Light Orchestra's 'Strange Magic' for a movie soundtrack.

The track was recorded for the director Tommy O'Hayer's children's film 'Ella Enchanted'. Hayes and O'Hayer worked in the past when Tommy directed Darren's 'Strange Relationship' video.

"This was really a favor I did for a friend" Darren said in a statement. "It's a children's film and although the music sounds nothing like the material I'm recording today I thought it might be nice to do something that my nieces and nephews could appreciate".

Hayes has downed tools on his second solo album. The album was recorded in London. Darren has kept the personnel well guarded buy says in a post at his website "we're working with someone who's made records with Bjork, Massive Attack and Madonna amongst others. This engineer is someone I've wanted to work with since forever and the experience is more than I'd imagined it would be. He's taking the record to another level."

The album is for later in the year but the Ella Enchanted soundtrack will be released next month.
